Communities in SchoolsThrough campus-based programs and special projects, Communities In Schools creates a network of volunteers, social services, businesses, and community resources that work together to break down barriers and help students succeed. Partnership Soma Austin partners with Communities in Schools to serve Dawson Elementary and Fulmore Middle School. This summer we will be performing an extreme makeover of the CIS counseling area, and this fall we will be partnering with Communities in Schools and Big Brothers Big Sisters in a middle school mentoring program. This is a new program for CIS and we hope to recruit at least 6-10 people to help in this program. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas
The Big Brothers Big Sisters Vision is successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities for all. Partnership Soma Austin is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Communities in Schools in a mentoring program at Fulmore Middle School. Through this program we will work with middle school children and their families both in the school and outside of the school setting. Greenbelt GuardiansThe Greenbelt Guardians are a group of Barton Hills neighbors and community outdoor enthusiasts who work together to preserve and protect one of our most beautiful and precious natural resources - Barton Creek and the Greenbelt that surrounds it. Partnership We have served with the Greenbelt Guardians on several workday projects at both the Gus Fruh trail and the Homedale trail. We will continue to participate in restoration projects in the Barton Creek Greenbelt and other area parks. |

Friends of Barton Springs Pool
The Friends of Barton Springs Pool creates a community of people dedicated to restoring, improving and maintaining the pool and surrounding grounds through organizing, advocacy, volunteer work, education and fun. Partnership We have served with spring cleaning, painting those 'No Running' signs and water depth signs as well as anything you see that is painted silver, like railings, the trash holders and some poles. Yep, we like the Barton Springs pool. |

Austin Parks Foundation
Austin Parks Foundation is committed to providing the resources and partnerships that create and sustain beautiful and active parks. They seek to fill the gap between what needs to be done and what our parks department can afford to do. Each year, Austin Parks Foundation generates millions of dollars in volunteer time, in-kind donations, and financial support for city parks. Partnership Soma Austin seeks to serve alongside other city partners in restoring our city parks. We have been able to participate in working on several parks in East Austin and the greenbelt through the It's My Park Day initiative and joining with neighborhood associations in cleaning up local parks. |
