Austin Disaster Relief Network Training

Soma Austin Community Church is partnered with the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) to help build a network in Greater Austin to meet the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of those affected by disaster.
Volunteer Drive
We will have a volunteer drive on Sunday, May 30th and Sunday, June 6th to inform people about the training conference the weekend of June 12th. The purpose of this conference is to train, equip and certify the body of Christ of greater Austin to enable them to help those in need, prior to disaster (Luke 10:25-37). One session in particular that is vital for the equipping and training is The Disaster Shelter Preparation session (free). The conference will have many other classes and break-out sessions but this one is the most beneficial for us. It is offered at 2 different times: Friday night from 7pm-8pm and Saturday morning from 9am-10am. Sign-up and details for the conference as well as more information about the Austin Disaster Relief Network and volunteering can be found at www.adrntx.org.
When you navigate to their registration page, there will be three parts to signing up. The first is your general information. The second part regarding background checks does not apply to you unless you decide you also want to be a Red Cross Shelter volunteer. If you decide later you do want to volunteer, they will provide everything necessary there in the ARDN Shelter Prep session. For the third part of registration, check the “General and Break-Out Sessions-Free” box.
Our goal is to get trained and to be ready for the beginning and duration of hurricane season- June through November. Email Bryan Ford (Soma's Disaster Relief Coordinator) to volunteer or ask any questions.
