There is an old Haitian proverb: 'Sa ki fè pwomès bliye, sa k'ap espere sonje.'
Those who make promises forget, those who are hoping remember.
Today marks 6 months since a 7.0 earthquake 25km west of the capital of Port-au-Prince left over 200,000 dead, an additional 300,000 injured and 1,000,000 people homeless, most of whom still live in temporary 'camps of despair' full of shelters pulled together with sticks and tarps.
In late May 2010 I traveled to Haiti on a ... ... Read more »

I have participated in many efforts to help the needy. Food and clothing drives, trips to urban neighborhoods to beautify and clean up, trips to orphanages and even spent time swinging a hammer fixing roofs, porches and all manner of broken homes. For a long time I have felt a disconnect and quiet discontent with the time spent on these activities. While we were able to do some good I always wondered what happened when I walked away. Living like we believe the story of God is true leads to more abundant life....Read more

Communities
We exist in community. Everyone of us. Take a look around and it
isn't difficult to see both the beauty of our communities as well as
the disparity and brokenness in our communities. We desire to
celebrate the beauty and to bring restoration to the brokenness and
equity to those who are in cycles of violence, poverty and a lack of
education.

Message
The message of Jesus Christ is the good news that His life, death and resurrection have purchased for us reconcilation between man and God, between man and man and it brings restoration to the world. This news is called the gospel.
The gospel is necessary for those who are far from God as well as for those who profess the Christ. We all need the same thing. The gospel.
